How to Install and Setup the CanVision/ORITE IPcam Widget The CanVision/ORITE IPcam widget allows you to monitor your network camera feeds directly from your desktop. Setting up this widget involves a simple process of downloading the software, configuring your network settings, and linking your specific IP camera feed.
Following this guide will get your desktop monitoring system operational in just a few minutes. Prerequisites
Before starting the installation, ensure you have the following information and hardware ready:
Your CanVision or ORITE IP camera powered on and connected to your local network. The local IP address of your camera (e.g., 192.168.1.100).
The administrator login credentials (username and password) for the camera.
The camera’s HTTP port number (default is usually 80 or 8080). Step 1: Download and Install the Widget
Download the official CanVision/ORITE IPcam widget installer package from the manufacturer’s resource page or utility disc.
Double-click the downloaded installation file (usually an .exe for Windows or .dmg for Mac) to launch the setup wizard.
Follow the on-screen prompts, accept the license agreement, and choose your preferred installation directory.
Click Finish to complete the installation and check the box to launch the widget immediately. Step 2: Retrieve Your Camera’s Stream URL
The widget requires direct access to your camera’s video stream, typically utilizing an MJPEG or RTSP URL format.
Open your web browser and type your camera’s IP address into the address bar to open its web management interface. Log in using your admin credentials.
Navigate to the Network or Video Settings menu to locate the video path.
For most ORITE and CanVision models, the standard stream path suffix is /live.jpeg, /video.mjpg, or /mediasstream. Note this path down. Step 3: Configure the Widget Settings Locate the newly installed IPcam widget on your desktop.
Right-click on the widget window and select Settings or Properties from the context menu to open the configuration panel.
In the Camera IP / URL field, enter the full network address of your camera stream. For example: http://192.168.1.
Fill in the Username and Password fields with your camera’s login credentials so the widget can bypass the security prompt.
Adjust the Refresh Rate or Frame Rate slider. Setting this to 1–2 seconds reduces network load, while setting it higher provides smoother video. Click Apply and then OK to save your changes. Step 4: Verify the Video Feed
Once you save the settings, the widget will attempt to connect to your IP camera. Within a few seconds, the placeholder image should change to a live video feed from your camera.
If the screen remains black or displays an error message, double-check that your computer is on the same local network subnet as the camera, and verify that the password you entered is correct.
